The Tacuba neighborhood in northwest Mexico City emerged as an affluent residential area in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with numerous large villas constructed. Amid political upheavals that left many buildings abandoned or collapsed, Mar Mediterráneo 34(MM34), built in 1910 in the eclectic French style characteristic of the Porfiriato era, endures. Today, it is recognized as a cultural heritage site by the National Institute of Fine Arts and the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).

외관은 원형을 복원하고 새로운 재료를 절제해 적용했다. 발코니와 문 위 린텔(lintel)에 사용된 조각된 채석석(quarry stone), 철제 난간, 대형 창문, 지붕 타일 등 주요 파사드의 수공예적 요소를 복원하는 작업이 진행됐다. 실내는 현대적 관점에서 과거를 재해석하는 방식으로 재구성되었다. 중앙 안뜰(main patio)은 하늘을 프레이밍하는 하나의 볼륨이 위로 들어 올려졌다. 복원된 건물은 3개 층, 7가구 규모로 재구성되었고, 로프트와 스튜디오, 가족형 주거, 펜트하우스 등 다양한 유형을 수용한다.
